Questions about this service

Water Features & Koi Ponds FAQ

Can a small backyard have a koi pond?

Sometimes, but fish need more than a decorative basin. We assess room for suitable depth, water volume, filtration, oxygen, and maintenance access. Where the space is too limited, a planted water garden or pondless waterfall may fit better.

Can roof runoff drain into a koi pond?

We plan decorative ponds separately from stormwater drainage. Runoff can carry sediment and lawn chemicals and cause sudden water-quality changes. A rain garden or drainage system is usually a better place to manage that water.

What care does a backyard water feature need?

Expect to remove leaves, clean filters, check the pump, and monitor water levels. Fish ponds also need water-quality checks and fish care. We discuss the routine before installation so you can choose a feature you will enjoy maintaining.

Do you handle pumps and electrical connections?

We plan the pump and circulation as part of the feature. If new electrical work is needed, we coordinate with a qualified local electrician and make that scope clear in the quote.
